Steel Detailing Services
Steel detailing services produce the erection and fabrication drawings a steel fabricator cuts, welds and bolts from, detailed in Tekla Structures to AISC practice. Once the structural drawings are in, our steel detailing services send a free quote within 24 hours.

A steel detailing set holds erection drawings, anchor bolt plans and shop drawings
A steel detailing set holds four things: erection drawings, anchor bolt plans, shop drawings of assemblies and single parts, and bolt lists and material lists. Together they tell a fabricator what to cut, weld and bolt and tell the crew where each piece goes.
Steel detailing covers frames, joists and deck, stairs and rails, and trusses
Yes, we detail stairs, rails and miscellaneous metals. Four kinds of steel are detailed: beams, columns and bracing; joists and metal deck; stairs, rails and miscellaneous metals; and trusses and platforms.
Connection design is the engineer of record's work; detailing it is ours
No, we do not design the connections. The engineer of record (EOR) or the client's engineer does. Connection design, fabrication and erection are outside our work.
Four things start a steel detailing job
The structural drawings and specifications, the connection design and the architectural drawings come first. A Tekla or Revit model joins them when one exists.
An approval set goes out first and the fabrication set follows
Yes, detailed drawings go to the engineer or architect as an approval set first. The fabrication set follows after approval, so the shop cuts from drawings that have been accepted.
Steel is detailed to AISC practice in Tekla Structures
Steel is detailed in Tekla Structures to the practice of the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC). The standard sets how the drawings are made, and we hold no membership or certification from it.
A steel set is reviewed in three stages and quoted at one fixed price
No steel set leaves on the detailer's word alone. The detailer's self-check comes first, a peer check next, and a final quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) review by a lead comes last. That is three quality assurance (QA) stages. Unlimited revisions within the agreed scope reach the approval set and the fabrication set.
