MEP Drafting Services
MEP drafting services draw the mechanical, electrical and plumbing layouts a building needs for permit and construction, drafted to SMACNA, NEC, IPC and UPC where each applies. Our MEP drafting services return a free quote within 24 hours of the engineer's or contractor's markups and the architectural plans.

Our MEP drafting services produce sheets for each system
MEP stands for mechanical, electrical and plumbing. Our MEP drafting services produce the sheets for each system: HVAC duct and piping layouts, plumbing plans and risers, electrical power and lighting plans with panel schedules, and fire protection and fire alarm layouts. Mechanical sheets are numbered in the M series, plumbing in P, electrical in E and fire protection in F.
Each MEP system follows its own code or standard
Each system follows its own standard where it applies. SMACNA covers duct construction and the National Electrical Code (NEC) covers electrical work. Plumbing follows the International Plumbing Code (IPC) or the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC), whichever the jurisdiction adopted, and sprinkler layouts follow NFPA 13.
The state or city that adopted a code decides its edition and, for plumbing, which code governs.
Sheet-number prefixes come from the US National CAD Standard (NCS), and layer names from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) layer standards.
An MEP set starts from the engineer's or contractor's design
An MEP set starts from the engineer's or contractor's design, in whatever form it exists, and from the architectural plans each sheet is drawn on. No one visits the building for these sheets, so existing conditions come from the drawings, photos and measurements in the package.
System design comes from your engineer or contractor; our drafters put it on sheets
The engineer or the design-build contractor designs the systems and sizes the equipment, and a drafter draws the plans from that design. Our drafters turn the markups into sheets, schedules and diagrams, never sizing equipment or changing a route, and the engineer of record seals the set where a seal is required.
On a typical set the drafter lays each system out on the architectural background, places equipment where the markup puts it and builds the schedules from the equipment data.
Engineering firms and MEP contractors hand us their markups, as do general contractors, builders, and architects or owners who have their own engineer.
Coordination and shop drawings have their own pages
The sheets on this page are the design set. Coordinating the trades in a model to resolve clashes is BIM clash detection, and the installation drawings a contractor fabricates from are MEP shop drawings. Each has its own page, and our MEP sheets are what both start from.
Each MEP set is checked by its drafter, a peer and a lead
Each MEP set passes three QA stages, each done by a different person and the last by the lead as the final QA/QC review. Unlimited revisions within the agreed scope remain available once the MEP set is issued.
Small drawing sets in 2 business days. Mid-size and larger projects from 3 business days, with the schedule fixed in your quote. We'll set the exact date in the quote after we've seen which systems you need drawn.
Sprinklers, existing buildings and Revit
Do you draft fire sprinkler layouts?
Yes. We hold no certification, so a sprinkler layout goes to the client's own certified or licensed designer for review and is never presented as certified design.
Can you draft from an existing building's drawings?
Yes. The sheets show what the files show, so a photo with no measurement, or an earlier drawing that no longer matches the building, leaves a gap the sheets cannot fill.
Do you work in Revit as well as AutoCAD?
Yes. Each MEP system is drafted in AutoCAD or Revit, whichever the project requires.
